About Us

the begonia society of tampa bay

The Begonia Society of Tampa Bay was started by a group of individuals wishing to learn more about the Begonia plant family. Typically, meetings include a program on a specific topic related to Begonia growing and culture, show and tell, a plant raffle, a little business and a great Begonia chatter.

First time guests receive a FREE plant.

We participate in the USF Botanical Spring and Fall Festivals and attend National and Regional Conventions.

We are a branch of the American Begonia Society: www.begonia.org

our aims & purposes

  • To stimulate and promote interest in Begonias and other shade loving plants
  • To encourage the introduction and development of new types of these plants
  • To standardize the nomenclature of Begonias
  • To gather and publish information in regard to kinds, propagation and culture of Begonias and companion plants
  • To issue a bulletin that will be mailed to all members of the society
  • To bring into friendly contact all who love and grow Begonias
